WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! At the end of March 2017 I went to the Maaco in Hagerstown, Maryland to have my short bus (van) painted. The day I dropped the bus off to get painted my estimate increased $1,000 than what was originally quoted to me. At that time I was dropping the bus off to be painted all over and have minor bodywork done. I was told that the bus will be completed by the following Friday and that the bus will be completely sanded down primed and repainted. I gave specific instructions to black out all bumpers, wheel wells, driver side door step, and the grille. These instructions were even noted on the estimate. In addition, the following instructions were noted on the estimate: repair rust spot under driver side door, fill rust stop sign holes, remove seam sealer all around and reseal, replace driver door seal, and to reattach rear door seal. The following Friday came and my bus still was not completed. Maaco called and said it will be completed by the middle of the following week. On Wednesday, April 12th Maaco called me about three times wanting to make sure the color that I wanted was correct before they started to paint it. They also told me it would be ready to pick up that afternoon. (They had it for 12 days and they’re just now painting the entire bus). They also told me that they forgot to paint the grille and the bumpers black so they were doing that while I was on the phone. At that point, I was already discouraged about the new paint job. When I arrived to Maaco later that day to pick the bus up, they still were not done. They brought the bus out and I was shocked with the poor quality of work. To this day I have no idea how Maaco is ranked America’s #1 Body Shop. The bus had numerous large runs of paint here and there. The wheel wells were not painted black like it said on the invoice. Some reflectors were never placed back on the bus. (They were just thrown inside). You could see that there were spots where the old paint was not even sanded. I could take my fingernail and chip off old paint chips that were just painted over. There was even a spot above the windshield that if you touched it you could hear and feel the old paint cracking underneath. Also, all the seals that were supposed to be redone looked horrible. Half were not even fixed. The ones that were redone looked like a kid crawled up on the bus with play-doe. I’ve never seen such bad work done before in my life. The service man (Ray) denied all of it and said that if I wasn’t happy I could bring it back in three weeks and they will make it right. After waiting three weeks I called them back and they were too booked to get me in so I had to wait until May 16th. The bus is used for kayaking tours so I had to cancel scheduled kayaking tours to get the paint job fixed. While I had the bus at home waiting to get it fixed one of the old rust spots was running rust stains all down the back over the new paint because of the rain. Clearly the bus was not primed properly. On May 16th I took the bus back over. I went over everything that I did not like about the work they did. Ray marked everything down on a piece of paper and said he will fix everything noted and I will be happy when I come back over. On May 26th I picked the bus back up, this time the wheel wells were painted black. They fixed one of the seals but it still looks horrible. Everything else I had them fixed was just touched up. I will never go back there again and I will make sure everyone is aware of the horrible work Maaco does. Never been so dissatisfied with a business and the services they provide. The owner, Kyle Kandrick is a complete unprofessional and he puts his sidekick Ray up to doing all his dirty work. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I DON'T KNOW HOW THESE GUYS ARE STILL IN BUSINESS. NEVER GO THERE --- TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY.
Kyle, Thanks buddy for the great work on all my vehicles.. Ever since having my first car painted by your staff, I was set on coming back to have my fleet of collection refreshed..
Quality job, professional and courteous, to include dropping my car off at residence due to my OCONUS assignment and I will tell you its a class-A work at a real reasonable cost.. I highly recommend............
Thanks again Kyle, I'm looking forward to see my third car when I return in a month!!! Sam..
Took my red K10 to Maaco Hagerstown. Needed a Ton of work .Cab corners, Rockers, Etc. Etc....Came out amazing. I cried when I saw it. I cant say enough
you get what you pay for. their price is half, compared to ALL other shops. so i don't expect blue ribbon job. get real critics! Raymond is the man. i'd go back again.
This Maaco location was highly recommended to me by my father. My father has a collection of classic cars, all of which he has entrusted Kyle to paint. His extensive expertise and value for quality services are unmatched by most in the business. That being said, I was dead set on using Maaco for my spoiler installation on my new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe. I visited the site to get an installation quote, and left with an appointment set that weekend free of charge. It's obvious that they value their client base as they went an extra mile for a new client. I can't say enough good things about Kyle and his shop.
