What was supposed to be one of the best few days of my life turned into a nightmare. Let me preface this with: while I was in labor, they were excellent (thus the 2nd star). But after that, it was nightmarish. I had chosen adoption for my child, and requested that the nurse staff didn't know. I had written that in my birth plan. The entire nursing staff knew. I had spiked a fever during my delivery, so for 3 days she was in the NICU. My boyfriend and I requested that they would call us when they would give our child her feedings. No calls, and many condescending attitudes. One nurse even said to me, "are you sure you want to choose adoption? You keep calling yourself mommy." It was in no way her place to say anything like this. The only hospital staff that didn't know about my adoption plan was the woman who wheeled me out in the wheelchair. It was a nightmare. My suggestion to anyone who is considering placing for adoption: unless you're OK with terrible treatment from judgmental nurses, stay away from Meritus Health Family Birthing Center.
Went in for a routine check up after fall. Lorraine and Michelle were wonderful. I know what to expect now when I deliver.
Wonderful staff and midwives
Meritus is an absolutely fantastic place to deliver!!!!! I delivered my first baby about a week ago and every single nurse that assisted me was kinda, patient, gentle and passionate about their job! The anesthesiologist who gave me my epidural was quick and efficient and tolerated my rude yelling through contractions (I later apologized profusely to everyone). A midwife delivered my son and I had some deep tearing which she stitched up. Literally EVERY nurse in this ward is amazing and I can't thank them enough. I HIGHLY recommend Meritus for labor and delivery. I felt so at ease for delivering my first baby and I owe it to all of the nurses!!! The lactation consultant Kris took her time in helping me learn to properly breast feed and she genuinely cared about my son and I, she even called to follow up with us a few days after leaving! Best hospital for delivery, hands down!!!!
