Lastly the ticket prices are at best comparable to those found in some of the other locals mentioned above but the difference is in matketing. The Keys for instance have a season long Groupon with BOGO M-Th , Guaranteed Win Tues and many other promos resulting in a better value, much better venue, better baseball with stands that have people in them. Perhaps the question of why are there ONLY 200 would better be phrased why are there EVER 200 people at the game. Just my opinion.
Hagerstown and municipal stadium has no succeeded if the goal is to be the rusted car in the weeds with its rubber dry rotted and engine missing and windows broken. Perhaps the city could have its bureaucratic inspectors inspect the stadium with the same keen eyes they use to find revenue but with the goal of improving it's own property.
They refer to the stadium as historic....that is on word, others include ugly, tired, dilapidated come to mind. Probably 200 people in attendance on a nice evening....will fill my need to support the local team for a long time. The wooden stands have fiberglass seating overtop I assume to prevent splinters. The paint on every bench has areas of wear showing the multiple colors of paint as well as bare worn fiberglass. A few rows of more modern seating with cup holders surround the infield and behind home under a roof. Children who should be monitored by there parents are left to have run of the stands. Although low minor league ball the potential for balls and bats to come into the stands with a dozen or 2 kids closer to home base is concerning. No one from the organization even walked through the stands except the mayor....I'm not sure if he is still with the organization or not, regardless this is a city owned property that is need of more than just a facelift. It's ironic the same city government requires inspection of private rental property with with illogical rules which have no affect (on safety or appearance) but serve just to harass and raise revenue.
Always a great time. Probably the best thing Hagerstown has to offer.
A bit run down. Needs some love and attention. Free parking and good ticket prices.
The food advertised as a "jumbo" hot dog must have gotten it's name from the price as the size was "normal" and certainly not the hot dog quality associated with a ball game. The pretzel was barely warm and the beer was $6, near MLB prizes at barely MiLB venue. Having been to other venues including Fred Keys, Harrisburg Senators, Altoona Curve, York Rebels, Lancaster Barnstormers, Trenton Thunder and Richmond Squirrels.
Great local place for some good family fun. My kids are part of the kids club and love to go to the games with their badges that make them feel special. They have plenty of opportunities for the kids to participate in events such as games in between innings, playing catch on the field, and running the bases. Most of the players are very nice and are happy to sign an autograph which my kids thought was awesome. I would recommend their season popcorn bucket if you plan on attending more than one game.
Real old-time baseball for not much money. Splurge on the grand stand tickets. These guys play as well as some of the majors. Scouts sitting in the front row. Manual scoreboard. restrooms are clean (at the start), and the food is reasonable. Very close to the action. Homey. Schedule posted online.
