The gas pump (number 11) made a churning clunking sound and pumped gasoline very slowly. I went into the shop to alert the assistant. She seemed to have difficulty understanding the problem and stated it was probably just due to my selection. The medium octane is apparently created by mixing the lower and higher octane. However, in all my experience of pumping medium octane gas, I have never heard such clunking and witnessed such slow delivery of gasoline.
